These Zara pearl biker boots are what your January needs (and they're in the sale)

Let's be honest, it's January, it's cold and windy and it basically sucks to be back at work after a nice long Christmas break. So you're probably in need of a little pick-me-up, and I've got the perfect pair of ankle boots for you. Or Zara does to be precise.

Remember those beautiful pearl-embellished biker boots that were ALL over Instagram a couple of months ago? You know the ones, black leather finish, lace-ups, with three straps covered in faux pearls, as seen on pretty much every fashion blogger.

Now while this particular style sadly hasn't been reduced in the sale, I've found a near-identical one which has, and it's just £59.99, which for a pair of leather boots really isn't bad at all.

Shop now: LEATHER ANKLE BOOTS WITH FAUX PEARLS for £59.99 from ZARA

The only difference is that these shoes have four straps with pearls instead of three, and you can't see the laces as much.

They're perfect if you're going for casual vibes but still want to look put together. Wear them with an oversized cashmere jumper and cropped jeans.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
