We never thought of Victoria Beckham as a circus fan - up 'till now. The designer gave us a private walk-through of her Big Top-inspired Resort 2016 collection (due in stores in November) for her diffusion line, Victoria, Victoria Beckham (or VVB to Mrs B and her team - it trips off the tongue a bit more easily) at her store on Dover Street.

Added bonus: a surprise visit from David. In a flat cap. What more could you want from a fashion appointment?

"I wanted the collection to offer versatility," says Victoria of the collection. "I travel a lot and so do my customers - with this other side of my wardrobe, it's important to keep things easy and wearable as well as fun."

Explaining that the illustrated prints and swirling lines of the hems and scalloped edges were inspired by the aesthetic of Victorian circuses, the designer also told us she's decided to incorporate her Victoria Beckham Denim denim range into the collection.

Featuring luxurious, high-tech fabrics including paper taffeta and duchesse satin, Victoria told us she and the team had spent a lot of time perfecting the Oriental-inspired floral prints, featured on structured jacquard pieces.

Among other gems, the collection includes the perfect A-line white top with couture-inspired sculptural sleeves, ankle-grazing jeans featuring crystal flower embellishments ("We'll probably call them 'the flower jeans' to be really original", joked the designer) and bold coloured dresses featuring graphic scalloped trims.

So if she had to pick one piece, what would it be? "The black duchesse satin jacket with sculptural sleeves - you could wear it so many different ways."

Our personal fave? The pale coral wool gaberdine skirt with giant black leather flower embellishments - attached with poppers so you can dry-clean it easily, of course.
