Versace returns to Paris haute couture

The Italian fashion house is to return to the couture calendar after a seven year absence

The Italian fashion house is to return to the couture calendar after a seven year absence.

According to the French Couture Federation, the Italian fashion house will show a Spring Summer collection on the 23rd January 2012.

Haute couture is a legally protected craft with strict laws relating to the amount of work done by hand and a maximum number of pieces allowed per collection. Other luxury houses that show under the haute couture rules include Chanel, Givenchy and Christian Dior.

Versace last showed a couture collection in 2004 but since then they have shown only still-life presentations to select fashion editors.

However, with its return to the couture catwalk and the successful launch of its colloboration with H&M it seems Versace is once again going to be the name on every fashionista’s lips, whatever their budget.
