We discovered something this week: that we're completely out of practice at dressing for summer weather. This is the hottest temperatures since records began, after all (not really, but you catch our drift).
It’s hot and it’s going to stay hot. There’s only one problem. We’ve run out of weather-appropriate dresses to wear. If you’re planning on hitting the shops this weekend to stock up on office-friendly summer pieces, look no further than these summer savvy stars for inspiration…
1. Miranda Kerr
The Australian model strutted into Narita airport in Japan like she owned the place this week. And she very nearly deserved to in this orange-and-olive swan-print Wes Gordon dress from the spring/summer 2013 collection. Miranda unashamedly teamed her orange look with a clashing red lip, a royal blue Samantha Thavasa tote and Bionda Castana leopard print heels. Heaven.
2. Nicole Richie
The socialite may be on her holidays in Portofino at the moment, but that doesn’t mean her style standards are going to slip. Hell no. Ms Richie pulled out all the stops in this vacay-perfect printed Issa maxi dress. From the plunging neckline to the vibrant colours, there is nothing we don’t like about this winning summer look.
3. Kate Moss
La Moss invited her closest group of pals (and Marie Claire, natch) to lunch at The Ivy to celebrate the launch of her accessories collection for Carphone Warehouse. Knowing all eyes were going to be on her, Kate opted for a zip-fronted Prada dress and neon-accented Christian Louboutins. It was all very summer in the city and the most perfect office-friendly look we’ve seen in a while. Do you think she’ll mind if we copy her?
4. Olivia Palermo
Strolling through NYC wearing a sheer lace blouse with a pleated white mini and a gorgeous man on her arm, Olivia Palermo couldn’t look anymore summer perfect if she tried. An embellished box clutch and a chunky gold cuff completed her stellar style.
5. Stacy Keibler
Fresh from her break-up with Hollywood star George Clooney, Stacy Keibler has been turning heads in LA with her impressive heatwave-friendly wardrobe. We’re currently a little obessed with the Kymerah Deco Mana maxi skirt she’s rocking, and the fedora hat and cutesy orange box bag are fabulous touches.
6. Maria Sharapova
The tennis star was a mint green goddess as she shimmered on the red carpet at the ESPY Awards in a J. Mendel dress and Casadei heels. Metallic is a key trend this season and Sharapova has got it bang on.
