The V&A museum has announced it will present Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, in spring 2015

The V&A museum has announced it's bringing the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition to London next year. Finally.

The retrospective, which originally showed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York back in 2011, will open at the V&A in the spring of 2015.

The exhibition will span McQueen's entire career, from his 1992 MA graduate collection to his unfinished AW10 collection (he committed suicide in February 2010).

Martin Roth, V&A Director, said: 'I am thrilled to announce that the V&A will bring this wonderful exhibition to London to celebrate the extraordinary creative talent of one of the most innovative designers of recent times. Lee Alexander McQueen was brought up in London, studied here and based his globally successful McQueen fashion brand here – by staging the exhibition at the V&A it feels like we are bringing his work home.'

Sarah Burton, Creative Director Alexander McQueen, said about the exhibition coming to London: 'Savage Beauty is a celebration of the most imaginative and talented designer of our time. Lee was a genius and a true visionary who pushed boundaries, challenged and inspired. He believed in creativity and innovation and his talent was limitless.'

Tickets are onsale as of 10am today (25 April) and we suggest you get in there quick. It was the eighth most visited exhibition in Metropolitan Museum's 142-year history, when it showed in New York, attracting 661,000 visitors - 80,000 in its last week alone.

Marie Claire's acting Fashion Features Director implores you to buy your ticket now, she says: 'When the Met put on this exhibition in 2011 New Yorkers queued for up to five hours to get in, over in London it seemed devastatingly unfair that we couldn't go to view this most British of brands' history. The V&A has triumphed in recent years with its sell-out Hollywood Costume and David Bowie exhibitions, but in bringing this exceptional McQueen show to town it will create an even more serious furore.

'Expect queues, expect tears, and buy, buy, buy your ticket now.'

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty will show at the V&A March 14 to July 19 2015. Supported by American Express and put on in partnership with Swarovski, it will cost £16 to visit, with concessions available and V&A members going free. Visit www.vam.ac.uk/savagebeauty or call 020 7420 9736 to book.
