Did Penelope win the walk-off?

It has been announced that Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz has joined the cast of the hotly anticipated Zoolander 2.

While it has also been confirmed that Ben Stiller will reprise his role as Derek Zoolander and Justin Theroux has once again written the script, it has not yet been revealed what role Penelope will be taking on.

Earlier this year we reported that the long-awaited sequel to the 2001 box office hit was looking for a 'big-name model’ for the lead female role, and aspiring actress – and certified supermodel - Cara Delevingne seemed to be the perfect fit.

With four film roles in post-production, and currently filming a fifth, Cara is certainly in demand. But could it be that the producers behind the cult film decided to take on the experience of one of the world's most famous actresses instead of those of a relative newcomer? Or may be Penelope was just better at the walk-off... Surely not?

Zoolander 2 is expected to shift 10 years from the original, where Derek Zoolander and his catwalk rival Hansel McDonald are no longer relevant in the ever-changing fashion world.

But there is still chance of a Cara D appearance. After all, the original movie - which made $60 million worldwide - featured a whole host of cameo appearances from fashion luminaries including Claudia Schiffer, Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld while David Bowie played the judge in a walk-off between rivals Derek and Hansel.

If it's decided by a walk-off, we know who our money's on...
