Matalan announces a Christmas collaboration with Alder Hey Children’s charity
As well as spreading joy and presents galore at Christmas, it’s an important time to stop and consider exactly how and to whom you’re giving.
With this in mind, Matalan has announced a Christmas collaboration with Alder Hey Children’s charity for the third year running. Following the hugely successful campaigns in 2014 and 2015 – the Alphabet Scarves and Beanie vs Bobble – today, the British retailer launched their ‘Get Your Stripes’ range of festive red, white and green striped pyjamas. Available in-store and online, with prices starting from £2- £10, 100% of the profits from sales of the collection goes directly to Alder Hey.
‘I am incredibly proud of our partnership with Alder Hey Children’s Charity which has seen us raise over £1.3 million for this amazing cause,’ Matalan CEO Jason Hargreaves said. ‘The work the charity is doing is so important, the partnership allows us to be part of something truly special, family is at the heart of our business so to be able to support such a worthy cause is an honour. We are confident that we can make this year’s campaign even bigger and better with the help of our fantastic customers and of course some supportive celebrities!’
Justin Bieber and Marie Claire cover star Britney Spears have both been involved in previous campaigns, while this year sees Anna Friel, Alesha Dixon and George and Larry Lamb donning stripped PJs to support the charitable initiative.
‘With the money raised so far, we have been able to invest heavily into our research centre, which is having a direct and positive impact on our patients,’ Louise Barrett, Head of Corporate and Major Giving for Alder Hey Children’s Charity revealed. And with 275,000 patients to care for, this is a very worthy cause.
‘Through this collaboration with Matalan it has also helped raise national awareness for the work we are doing across the hospital,’ Barrett added. The Alder Hey Research Centre is developing a new state of the art innovation facility with an aim to develop the next generation of medicines and interventions.
