The British model hit the catwalk during the Alexander Wang s/s 2013 show during New York Fashion Week

She's been keeping a low profile ever since news broke that her film director husband had an affair with his Snow White and the Huntsman leading lady Kristen Stewart, but this weekend Liberty Ross was back storming the catwalk at New York Fashion Week.

The British model-turned-actress was the surprise runway star at Alexander Wang's spring/summer 2013 show on Saturday. Dressed in a sporty white hooded mac and matching skirt with cut-out panels, her dark hair slicked back into a ponytail and her head taped with a glow-in-the-dark strip, she strutted down the catwalk with confidence in a show of defiance to her disgraced husband Rupert Sanders.

But behind her triumphant return to the catwalk (Liberty hasn't taken part in Fashion Week shows for years), the mother-of-two admitted that she was 'totally terrified'.

Speaking at the Alexander Wang show's after-party later that evening, she told the Cut website: 'To be honest, I was totally terrified. I hadn’t actually been out of my house for seven weeks so I was really anxious. But it felt amazing.'

Wang said he asked her to do the show, 'Because I love her and I support her.'

With Sanders nowhere to be seen, Ross let her hair down with drinks and some dancing well into the night at the after-party at the city's Chambers Street bank.

Just two days earlier, Kristen Stewart made her first red carpet appearance since the scandalous affair at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of On The Road. News of the relationship between Stewart and Sanders first emerged in July when Us Weekly magazine published pictures of them in a romantic tryst down a secluded road in Los Angeles.

The same day that the incriminating photos emerged, Stewart released a statement publicly apologising to then-boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, stating: 'This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry.'
