Following the news of Glee star Cory Monteith’s tragic death, insiders are reporting that his girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele will be returning to the show for a fifth season.

The hit show is set to return to our screen for a fifth series, and according to HollywoodLife, overachiever Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, will be part of the returning cast.

LEA MICHELE PAYS FINAL RESPECTS TO CORY MONTEITH

‘Lea is not leaving Glee,’ a source tells HollywoodLife. ‘Everyone is going to take things lightly as the first few days back on set are going to be an emotional roller coaster.’

According to the gossip site, producers had already begun the casting process for two new characters to join the sing-along show for its next season, a ‘quirky girl’ named Jenny and a new African-American McKinley High student, before Cory Monteith, who played Lea’s love interest Finn Hudson, tragically died from a lethal combination of alcohol and heroin on 13 July.

The website also reports that producers are busy ‘wrapping their heads around all aspects of how to move the show forward and will respect Lea’s wishes in their hopes to make the show as special moving forward as it was in the past.’

‘They are family and they will all get through it together. Being together on the show should actually be a godsend,’ the insider said.

Glee cast members including Dianna Agron, Jenna Ushkowitz and Jane Lynch have been consoling each other after Monteith’s sudden death, and were spotted having lunch together in L.A. this week, while Lea paid her final respects to her boyfriend at a cremation service held in Monteith’s native Vancouver.
