Expect a sell-out

High street chain H&M’s designer collaborations have become a bit of a phenomenon.

Previous collections with Balmain, Versace and Kenzo have been so popular, they’ve sold out within minutes online, and customers have queued for hours to be the first to get their foot in the door on the launch day.

Needless to say, when H&M announces a new collab, people tend to go a bit wild. And its latest announcement is no exception.

The Swedish giant is teaming up with chic French brand colette to create an exclusive H&M Studio AW17 collection worth of Paris Fashion Week catwalk.

Featuring a special colour palette based on colette’s signature blue, plus two completely unique designs, the line is all about revisited classics, from graffiti-embellished dresses to structured white shirts.

Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design and Creative Director, says, 'We really thought about the modern woman’s wardrobe and what she needs in it – sharp outerwear, soft dresses, flattering knits and statement accessories. For the H&M Studio x colette collection in particular, we not only combined contrasting fabrics in a garment, but also brought in more colour contrast with the signature colette blue, which created a more graphic structure and a new, fearless attitude'.

Given everyone’s obsession with dressing like a Parisian, we expect this one to sell out fast, so be ready to set your alarm clocks.

The H&M Studio x colette edition launches 21 August and will be available in-store and online at colette for two weeks, along with selected pieces from the main H&M Studio AW17 collection.

Prices will start at 40 euros (around £35) for a top.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
