Fashion round-up: Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

Cameron Diaz and America Ferrera lead the A-list at Kids' choice Awards

Giving the A-list the chance to indulge their more playful side, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this weekend saw stars go fun and flirty with their fashion choices, with thigh-skimming hemlines and sky-high heels ruling the orange carpet.

Leading the pack was Kids’ Choice regular Cameron Diaz in a dotty Michael Kors shell top, teamed with a pair of ripped 7 For All Mankind jeans, black peep-toes and a ruby red clutch.

Ideal for the light-hearted dress code, Diaz perfectly combined on-trend dressing (distressed jeans are the denim look of choice for SS’09), without taking her style too seriously.

Although it was Diaz topping our best-dressed list, for the hordes of screaming teens it was all about High School Musical stars Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron.

Keeping things casual, Hudgens rocked a country vibe with denim hot pants, a fringed waistcoat and cowboy boots, which although not typical red carpet fare, worked well for the occasion.

It was certainly a breath of fresh air when compared to Miley Cyrus, who chose yet another ageing floor-length gown. Act your age next time please, Miss Cyrus!

Getting grown-up chic just right was America Ferrera, who looked radiant in red, with a chic plunging batwing dress.

However, not all the stars dealt quite so well with the kids-appropriate dress code.

Supermodel Amber Valetta’s Preen geometric print tunic was stylish enough, but with her hair scraped back and a pair of pointy boots, looked a little too harsh amongst the sea of fun fashion.

As for Megan Fox, she may have toned down her signature sass, but sadly she also lost the style, when she teamed grey skinny jeans with a billowing tunic. Fine for the weekend, but not quite what we’d expect from the gorgeous Transformers star.
