Emma Watson launches ethical fashion collection

Emma Watson creates fashion line with People Tree

Rumours have been rife for months that Emma Watson was launching a clothing line, and now the actress has finally confirmed her first foray into fashion – a collaboration with ethical label People Tree.

Due to launch early next year, the Harry Potter starlet has created People Tree’s first collection specifically designed for young people, aimed at the 16-24 market.

Taking inspiration from festival style, the South of France and London looks, Watson acted as creative advisor for the 26-piece womenswear collection, small accessories line and 15 menswear garments.

A budding Brit fashionista, Emma has become a regular on the front rows at various fashion weeks, plus is the current face of Burberry.

She was inspired by her signature style when embarking on the line, which will offer cotton tees, laidback jersey dresses, summer poplin skirts and shorts.

All created under People Tree’s strict ethical guidelines, much of the collecrtion uses organic and fairly traded cotton, and all the clothes are made by hand by fair trade groups around the world, bringing much needed income to communities in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.

Speaking on her new role, Watson raved: ‘I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with.

‘I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there’ she added.
