Designer Raf Simons announces that he’s stepping down from Jil Sander after seven years at the label
The design house released a joint statement with the Belgian designer to confirm that he will step down on Monday – a mere two days after his final collection for Jil Sander is shown during Milan Fashion Week on Saturday – and his successor will be named in the next few days.
Rumours are swirling that Simons could be about to take up the vacated post at Dior following John Galliano’s sensational sacking for anti-Semitism last year, or replace Stefano Pilati as the designer at Yves Saint Laurent.
What’s more, a German magazine is reporting that designer Jil Sander could be the person to replace Simons, and return to the label that bears her name for a second time since retiring from the business eight years ago.
