Day 2 of Milan Fashion Week (aka ‘pasta & pizza week’)

Milan tends to be the city that the fashionistas get all maudlin about, but with pasta, pizza and trend-setting beauty looks aplenty, what’s not to love I say?

Milan tends to be the city that the fashionistas get all maudlin about, but with pasta, pizza and trend-setting beauty looks aplenty, what’s not to love I say?

So with elasticated waistbands at the ready, my first stop after risking life and limb courtesy of an Italian driver with a death wish was hot ticket of the week -Prada (and mama mia did we know it as we were jostled about outside for almost an hour). Luckily it was worth the wait with a dream team consisting of Pat McGrath on makeup and Guido on hair who gave us a Prada power pout and what can only be described as a French flip.

The early Milan call times never cease to hurt and the following morning’s start was an eye-watering 7am at Moschino, where we were sent back in time with a Lana Del Rey-meets-sixties mélange.

From the not so subtle to the slightly more subdued at Just Cavalli where hair and makeup were inspired by the ocean and ‘girls returning to the water’ (igniting my love affair with Daryl Hannah in Splash!). With time for a quick glug of coffee, our next stop was Etro – known for being a fave amongst us beauty editors: homemade pizza and olive bread, Etro water, lots of space backstage and a guaranteed model elite. Here, the look was equestrian-meets-Asia (you’ve got to love an obscure reference) and I managed to grab a few moments with supers Constance and Liu Wen to get the lowdown on their pre-party rituals (although you’ll have to wait to read December’s MC to find out what they said!).

Unlike London, we actually found ourselves with enough time to grab a spot of lunch (although pasta more than once in a day is not to be recommended in hindsight), before rolling off to Iceberg (super minimal with a bellissima bow) and Blumarine (super minimal and sleek).

And that, dear reader is my lot (apart from having to make time to squeeze in yet more pasta and possibly a cheeky cocktail). Until tomorrow……
