Karl Lagerfeld has named the latest Chanel bag after his beloved cat, Choupette, if the rumours are to be believed. New York Times journalist Cathy Horyn seemed to have let the cat out of the bag (sorry) when she tweeted following her recent visit to Chanel's Parisian studios.

She wrote: 'I just saw the Choupette bag in the studio at Chanel. Knitted, soft. Name of Karl's cat.'

The pretty white Siamese kitty is much loved by Lagerfeld and he's even set up a Twitter account in the cat's name. Adding fuel to the rumours, @ChoupettesDiary re-tweeted Horyn's post.

The self-described 'famous beauty', has over 2,000 followers on Twitter, where she keeps her fans up-to-date with her day-to-day activities and also, similar to her owner, Karl Lagerfeld, isn't afraid to speak her mind - a recent gem being: 'YSL changing its name to "Saint Laurent Paris" is as unimaginable (and stupid) as owning a dog as a pet.'

Speaking to WWD last month Lagerfeld explained the cat, which he refused to give back to model Baptiste Giaconi after cat-sitting her for two weeks over Christmas, has two personal maids and dines with him each evening.

Judging by Choupette's photos on Twitter, the bag is sure to be just as purrrfect!
