The creative genius behind Burberry will marry his long-term boyfriend, Simon Woods
Whilst he puts the finishing touches to Burberry’s spring/summer 2013 collection to be showed during London Fashion Week next month, it seems designer Christopher Bailey is going to be busier than ever, as he also has a wedding to plan.
Burberry’s chief creative officer will marry long-term boyfriend, actor and writer Simon Woods, in an intimate civil ceremony in London in late September, according to the Daily Mail.
The wedding caps a triumphant few years for the Burberry designer – who has scooped numerous Designer of the Year awards and was honoured with an MBE – who suffered heartbreak in 2005 when his then-boyfriend, Miu Miu’s brand director Geert Cloet, died of brain cancer.
The 40-year-old Yorkshireman met 32-year-old Woods back in 2009. Several years earlier, Woods studied at Oxford University where he met actress Rosamund Pike, and the pair had a relationship for two years. The couple went on to star alongside Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen in the 2005 big screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
Bailey and Woods were spotted at Chelsea Register Office earlier this week to give notice of their upcoming partnership. It’s understood that the happy couple will invite ‘close family and friends’ only to help celebrate their big day in the venue’s grand chandelier-decorated Brydon Room.
