The ASOS x Hello Kitty collab is the trip down memory lane you need

It’s giving me all the feels

Remember when you were a kid and obsessed with Hello Kitty? The Japanese character - which FYI is not a cat but a British school kid (I know, pretty devastating) - was the cool thing to have at school, whether it was on a lunch box, backpack or t-shirt.

As a grown up, those days are quite possibly behind you, but ASOS has just brought back Hello Kitty in a totally wearable way, and I’m loving it.

The collection, which launches today, comprises of street-wear inspired pieces, and preppy classics, mixed in with a little bit of kitsch. Because Kawaii.

There are cool sweatshirts and hoodies which can be worn with ripped jeans or a pleated skirt with kitten heels for a more polished look, and chic Breton tops with a miniature Kitty on the chest, best worn with straight jeans and biker boots.

For those nights out, there is a pair of incred heels with removable Hello Kitty badges in case you fancy a more paired down look.

Shop my favourite pieces from the collection below.

Plus, you’ve got some cool gifts too, if you’re doing a bit of Christmas shopping too, like the charm bracelet for your BFF, because you know Kitty’s motto, ‘You can never have too many friends’.

Told you you’d feel nostalgic.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
