Alexa Chung joins the cast of Gossip Girl for her debut acting role

British TV host and all-round style queen Alexa Chung has landed a cameo role in the new series of Gossip Girl

As if we weren't excited enough about the upcoming final series of Gossip Girl, British TV host and all-round style queen Alexa Chung has joined the cast in her debut acting role.

The fashionista was snapped arriving at the New York set yesterday wearing a turquoise sailor-style dress and pointy flats to film her scenes alongside show regulars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester.

It's understood that the 28-year-old, who splits her time between London and NYC, will make a cameo appearance playing herself in the sixth and final series of the hit US show.

No further details have been announced about her part yet, but Alexa should be a natural in front of the camera thanks to her telly hosting experience.

Blake, Leighton and male stars Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick were all also snapped on the Manhattan set yesterday shooting scenes for the final season.
