Police are examining CCTV footage of murder victim Jo Yeates, which appears to show the murdered Bristol architect being followed by two people during her final walk home.

Blurred images from a pub's outdoor security camera show a woman carrying a Tesco bag at 8.44pm on Friday 17th December, believed to be Miss Yeates, with two people following about 30 seconds behind her.

Two days later Jo was reported missing once her boyfriend returned from a trip visiting friends. Her body was discovered on Christmas day.

The footage has been released as further details on the investigation have emerged. Police confirmed that Miss Yeates' body was discovered without her shoes and coat, which were found in her Bristol flat, suggesting she returned and may have been killed in her home. At a press conference today, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones stated: 'When Jo Yeates was found on Christmas Day morning in Longwood Lane, although she was fully clothed she was not wearing her jacket and not wearing her boots and she was only wearing one sock.

'The jacket and her boots were found at her home address. That would indicate that Jo returned home. However at the present time the sock has not been found.'

The missing sock was described as a grey size five ski sock, and police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Further developments also suggest that Jo may have been targeted after telling friends and colleagues that she was alone in her flat for the weekend. Police are attempting to identify anyone who may have known this information, and whether her killer targeted her on discovering it.
