Gisele Bündchen may have hung up her catwalking shoes when she retired from modelling last year, but she will be walking in the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio. Not in, like, a professional power walker way - the Brazilian beauty is set to host the opening ceremony at the Maracana Stadium on August 5, by strutting her stuff through a 'futuristic gateway' (via Malay Mail Online).

Gisele’s love of sport has been well documented (just watch how happy she is throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a Boston Red Sox baseball game in the gallery above). The ex-Victoria’s Secret model has also presented the World Cup trophy to the public at the 2014 Fifa World Cup final in Brazil, in which Argentina played Germany.

'I’ve always played sport, ever since I was little. I played volleyball and I believe sport teaches you a lot, such as teamwork, respect and discipline,' she told Fifa.com at the time.

Aside from her upcoming Olympics gig, Gisele has added TV presenter to her CV too. Anyone who follows her on Snapchat will have seen some of the behind-the-scenes footage of the the National Geographic Channel docu-series she's been filming in Brazil.

Years of Living Dangerously, which centres on the destruction of the Amazon and the efforts to save it, is expected to air in October and run as weekly episodes. As a UN environment programme goodwill ambassador, Gisele regularly speaks out passionately about her quest to better the environment.

Despite all her new gigs, Gisele has still found the time to star in the steamy new Givenchy Jeans campaign with fellow Brazilian, actor Cauã Reymond.

Thankfully, it seems the once-highest paid model in the world hasn't quit modelling completely.
