The best supporting actor nominee asked his mum to be his Oscars date - and shared her reaction with the world

Jared Leto could get any leggy blonde model to be his date for the Oscars. (I mean, have you seen his hair? Who could say no?)

But instead of asking a sexy young thing to serve as his arm candy, the best supporting actor nominee asked his mother Constance - and he popped the question over FaceTime.

The Dallas Buyers Club star posted a screengrab of him and his brother chatting with their mum to Instagram on Monday.

This won't be Mama Leto's first red-carpet event. She also accompanied her son to the SAG Awards in January, where he was also nominated for best supporting actor.

We're excited to see what Jared's mum will wear to the Oscars - but, if we're being honest, we're even more excited to see how the sexy star will style his hair.

Will he let his wavy ombre locks hang free? Will he rock a studly man bun?
