The Olympic diver has released a personal video message talking about his new relationship... and it will make you have the utmost respect for him

Tom Daley has done something incredible today, revealing in a personal video message on Twitter that he's in a relationship with another man.

The 19-year-old Olympic diver, who won a bronze medal during the London 2012 games last year, posted a five-minute video to YouTube video his Twitter age this morning, in a brave attempt to battle bullies and take control of a question he's consistently asked in sports interviews.

The video opens with Tom discussing what a whirlwind few years he's had, what with losing his father to cancer, winning an Olympic medal, landing his own TV show and seeing his public profile increase to celebrity status. He adds that while he is often asked about his private life, and wanted to share with his fans the news that since spring this year, he's been in a relationship with a man.

He says: 'In spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great.

'That someone is a guy.'

He adds: 'It did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in the back of my head that something like that could happen. But it wasn't until spring this year that something just clicked. It felt right and I thought "Okay".

'And my whole world changed there and then. Right now I'm dating a guy and I couldn't be happier. Of course I still fancy girls but right now I'm dating a guy and I couldn't be happier.'

Wow. Tom shared the YouTube video in a link on his Twitter age and said: 'Got something I need to say...not been an easy decision to make, hope you can support me! :).'

And in an attempt to combat any prejudice against his confession, the Olympian then goes on to discuss his late father and what he would have thought of the news. To which Tom remarks: 'He always used to say "As long as you are happy, I'm happy".'

He added: 'My mum has been so supportive as well. All of my friends and family that I've told have been so supportive, which has been great. My friends and family have supported me and I hope you guys can too.

'I still want to win an Olympic gold medal in Rio in 2016 for Britain.

'I'm still as motivated as ever to do that.'
