Forget what you think you know about Miranda Priestly

It has been 11 years since The Devil Wears Prada came into our lives, and it was such a hit that they're even making a Devil Wears Prada musical on broadway. So by now you probably think you know it inside out - right? Wrong. It turns out that a deleted scene would have changed the entire movie, and more importantly, the character of Miranda Priestly.

Whether you've watched the movie ten times or ten hundred times there's no denying that Miranda, played by the glorious Meryl Streep, is the icy, hard-nosed magazine editor from our nightmares. But if this deleted scene had stayed in the movie, it would have shown her character in a whole new light.

Buzzfeed's Spencer Althouse started the internet's collective meltdown over the unseen clip when he tweeted it to his followers.

'I'm just seeing this deleted scene from The Devil Wears Prada for the first time, and honestly it changed the whole movie for me,' he wrote.

You might remember the moment when Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) and Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) are at a glitzy event with Miranda, subtly helping her to remember all of her guests' names. However, the final few seconds of the original clip show that Miranda's husband comes along, stumbling about drunk and being extremely obnoxious. Luckily, Andy is on hand to change the subject and it allows Miranda to steer her husband away.

The key moment, however, is when Miranda turns to Andy and mouths, 'Thank you.'

Sorry - what?! The ice-queen who forced Andy to miss her boyfriend's birthday, complete her childrens' science projects and demanded manuscripts for the unreleased Harry Potter book without a single nod of appreciation suddenly showed some gratitude?

Fans of the film are praising the producers for cutting the scene, and allowing Miranda just one moment of vulnerability until the end in that tearjerking taxi scene.

If this uncharacteristic 'thank you' had been left in the film, Miranda Priestly's character just wouldn't have been the same.
