Anne Hathaway has spoken out about her embarrassment after accidentally flashing more than she’d wanted

Anne Hathaway has been left devastated after photographers went a little too far with their flashbulbs at the Les Miserables New York premiere on Monday evening.

As she stepped out of the car and onto the red carpet in a Tom Ford black dress complete with a thigh-high split, the paparazzi seized the opportunity and took photos under her skirt.

Unfortunately Anne accidentally exposed a little too much and was overheard speaking about how upset she was. The Mirror report she said: ‘I was getting out of the car and my dress was so tight that I didn’t realize it until I saw the photographers’ flashes.

‘It was devastating. They saw everything. I might as well have lifted up my skirt for them.’

But it didn’t end there, rather than keeping schtum about the whole affair, the star spoke up about how sad a reflection the entire incident is of society and even appeared on US chat show, Today to say so.

She told the programme’s host, Matt Lauer: ‘It was obviously an unfortunate incident. It kind of made me sad on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment and rather than delete it, and do the decent thing, sells it.’

ANNE HATHAWAY DIDN’T EAT FOR 13 DAYS FOR LES MIS ROLE

Ever the professional though, Anne turned things round to talk about her work in Les Miserables that she’s currently promoting, adding:

‘I'm sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, which brings us back to Les Mis, that's what my character is, she is someone who is forced to sell sex to benefit her child because she has nothing and there's no social safety net.’

Anne, thank you for speaking out in this way!
