Kate Middleton wore a £980 MaxMara Belli coat for the visit

Kate Middleton has had a busy 24 hours, last night she made a solo appearance at the Natural History Museum and this morning she caught a train up to Cambridge with Prince William.

It's the first time the royal couple have visited their namesake city.

Kate and William travelled first class on a train from King's Cross, London, where they spent last night, to Cambridge and were greeted by cheering crowds as they pulled into the station at 10am.

Kate wore a simple dusky pink MaxMara £980 Belli coat over a leopard print dress that she had teamed with her brown suede Aquatalia ankle boots and a matching brown Emmy Scarterfield clutch.

Having debuted her new fringe and layered 'do at her public outing last night, Kate once again stepped out with her enviable tresses on show.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first visited the Guildhall in the city, where they met members of the local community, before heading onto Jimmy's, a hostel for the homeless, and this afternoon they are due to visit The Manor School and Peterborough City Hospital.
