Despite her lack of success, she still hoped her efforts would be shown on TV, particularly because of her family connection to the show. But Melissa’s chances of exposure drew to a close when the audition phase of the X Factor finished over the weekend.
Upset by the turn of events she told The Sun: ‘I have no idea what's going on but it doesn't look like I am going to appear.’
A family friend supported the aspiring singer who said: ‘Everybody is angry that Melissa's audition has been scrapped. We can't believe it. She gave a really good performance and believed she would be featured in the audition shows.
‘But after it was announced Cheryl was making her surprise comeback, it all went quiet. I wonder why that is? If anything, Melissa is a better singer than Cheryl. It's so unfair.’
