How awkward would this have been? Kristen Stewart was scheduled to appear at the premiere of On the Road next week with her co-stars, which include Robert Pattinson's best friend, Tom Sturridge.
Kristen, who recently apologised for having an affair with married direct Rupert Sanders, has pulled out of the red cerpet event to be held in London.
She was due to attend the premiere of the film version of Jack Kerouac's novel on August 16, but it seems that she's not feeling up to appearing in public, let alone with Rob's close friend, following the cheating scandal.
FIRST LOOK: KRISTEN STEWART IN ON THE ROAD TRAILER
A source told RadarOnline: 'Kristen won't be doing the red carpet for On The Road - she's too ashamed to show her face in public right now. After everything that has been said, she's running scared at the moment.
The insider continued: 'There's also the dilemma of standing next to her co-star in the movie, Tom Sturridge. He's very close to Rob and Kristen thinks it would be awkward for her to promote the movie on the red carpet alongside him.
'Kristen is very proud of her work for On The Road, she grew up reading Kerouac novels and this is a production she always wanted to star in.'
They added: 'If she appears at the London premiere, it will detract people from the movie itself and Kristen doesn't want that at all. She wants her performance and this film to be recognised for what it is - a great adaptation of a classic book.'
There are also rumours that Kristen has pulled out of another movie project, Cali, and that Amber Heard will replace her.
What do you think? Should Kristen have got the awkward public appearance out of the way, or is it best that she continues to lay low for a while? Let us know what you think about the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson drama in the comment box below.
