Kate Middleton and Prince William will be supporting Zara Phillips in her quest for a medal

Kate Middleton and Prince William may be watching many Olympic events in their capacity as London 2012 Ambassadors, but it's thought they'll be putting their official duties to one side during the equestrian games, to cheer on William's cousin Zara Phillips.

According to insiders, William and Kate, who attendedZara's wedding to rugby player Mike Tindall in Scotland last year, are particularly set on watching the royal compete.

Zara will be taking part in several different equestrian events in her quest for a gold medal, together with her trusty steed High Kingdom.

It's thought Prince William and Kate Middleton are down to watch almost all of the Equestrian competitions, which start from next week.

As official Ambassadors of the London 2012 Olympics, the lucky Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have bagged the best seats in the house for some of the most hotly-anticipated sporting events - and will be attending no less than 15 during the next month.

According to officials, Prince William is scheduled to watch football at Wembley, Tennis at Wimbledon and Athletics, including the men’s 100m final, while Kate Middleton, is down for swimming, sailing, diving and hockey, and Prince Harry the Beach Volleyball on Horse Guards Parade.
