Chris Moyles is to leave the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show after more than eight years.
The DJ, who is the breakfast show's longest serving DJ, will leave Radio 1 in September.
Announcing his departure on this morning's show, he said: 'We're going to leave the breakfast show … I'm just going to give a heads up that we are going to wrap it up.
'It's almost time to go, we're off. A couple more months of us and then it's someone else's turn to have a go.'
BBC Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper offered his congratulations and gratitude to Moyles on a job well done.
He said: 'I'd like to thank Chris. Quite simply he's been the most successful breakfast show host in Radio 1 history.
'He's done it for more than eight and half years and he's been fantastic.'
Cooper is under pressure to shift the station's audience profile towards a younger demographic and has already made some changes in that direction by switching Greg James, 26, to Radio 1's main afternoon show from 4-7pm, replacing 39-year-old Scott Mills, who was moved to the 1-4pm slot.It's been announced that Nick Grimshaw will replace Chris Moyles as the host of the breakfast show.
Chris Moyles is to play Herod in a UK tour of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Jesus Christ Superstar starting in September.
