The auction to sell two hats previously worn by Kate Middleton ends today and the pieces are expected to go for considerably more than was first estimated.

The headwear, which Kate wore before she was married to Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge, was listed for sale by Kerry Taylor Auctions last month with a sale estimate of £1,000-£1,500.

The highest bidders will be able to own the black and white disc-shaped Philip Somerville creation, which the then Kate Middleton donned for the Order of the Garter at Windsor in June 2008.

The second piece is by Aurora and was worn by Kate when she attended the wedding of William's friend, Harry Meade, in October 2010.

Before she was a member of the Royal Family, Kate was on much more of a style budget and often hired hats for important occasions from Get Ahead Hats in Reading for around £100 a time.

Would you fork out thousands for a hat worn by Kate Middleton? Or is it a ridiculous waste of money? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
