Prince Philip was able to celebrate his 91st birthday at home after being discharged from hospital.
The Duke of Edinburgh was allowed home from the King Edward VII Hospital on Saturday, having spent five days there being treated for a bladder infection.
As he exited the hospital, he was asked if he was feeling better and, displaying his legendary sense of humour, he replied: 'Well, I wouldn't be coming out if I wasn't.'
DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
It meant that Prince Philip was able to see in his 91st birthday at home with his family, where a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said he would celebrate it 'privately.' Although their will be a a 41-gun salute from Hyde Park and a 62-gun salute from the Tower of London to mark the occasion today at noon.
The spokesperson added: 'He continues to make a good recovery and he will continue his convalescence at home.'
On Friday, Prince William and Prince Harry briefly visited their grandfather at the London hospital before being driven away in a Range Rover.
