Wowza. Katy Perry's been responsible for a host of attention-grabbing videos in her time, and her latest offering, to accompany latest track Part of Me, is no different.
Donning her army fatigues, the new music movie sees the singer chop off her long locks, join the marines and go to war, after breaking things off with a cheating ex-boyfriend.
After brushing off talk her latest hit is aimed at ex-hubby Russell Brand (the line 'You can keep the diamond ring - it don't mean nothing anyway' didn't have us especially convinced), Katy revealed she trained with real Marines to make the nearly four-minute-long film.
'Well, I think that everybody can see that I love to take chances with my videos, and also have a lot of fun,' gushed to MTV News of her idea.
'It's an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I ever could. Literally, I was like, "I'm gonna join the service. I'm gonna join the Marines."'
And it seems she really threw herself into the routine. No diva tactics here!
'We used only Marines. For three days, I was a wannabe Marine, which was so difficult. Those people work hard and work out,' she said.
I learned how to flip someone. I learned how to flip them on their back. I learned how to wrestle underwater.'
Okay, we're officially impressed.
