Madonna 'livid' with M.I.A for obscene gesture during Super Bowl performance

Madonna is apparently furious with British rapper M.I.A for flipping her middle finger during the half time Super Bowl performance.

Madge had invited M.I.A on stage to help her sing new track Give Me All Your Luvin' during the huge family sporting event, which was the most watched programme in US history with 111.3 million viewers, but had no idea she was going to make the obscene gesture.

'Madonna wasn't impressed. She prides herself on professionalism,' a source told The Sun.

'M.I.A did nothing similar in rehearsals. Nobody knew she was going to pull this stunt.

'Madonna wanted to put on a world-beating performance. But everyone ended up talking about this girl's middle finger.'

Tim Winter, chief of the influential watchdog The Parents Television Council, said: 'M.I.A used a finger shamelessly to bring attention to herself, effectively telling an audience filled with children, '**** you.'

Meanwhile M.I.A's camp are blaming the gesture on 'adrenaline,' with a source close to the 36-year-old explaining: 'She wasn't thinking. She was caught in the moment and she's incredibly sorry.'

We bet she's sorry, M.I.A could be hit with a huge fine.

Following Janet Jackson's infamous 'wardrobe malfunction' when she flashed a breast at the 2004 Super Bowl, regulators have imposed a £350,000 penalty for inappropriate behaviour and artists must now sign liability clauses with the TV network NBC.

Both the NFL and NBC have issued an apology regarding the incident, with the TV network claiming that they did not have time to blur obscene gesture as it occurred too quickly.
