Holden couldn't see new baby till three days after her birth

It's emerged that Amanda Holden spent three days apart from her newborn baby while she was fighting for her life in intensive care.

Amanda's record producer husband, Chris Hughes, yesterday thanked staff for saving his wife's life after she went into labour a month early on Monday.

Their spokeswoman Alison Griffin said: ‘Chris would like to thank all the medical staff and everyone who has been involved in Amanda's care. They have all been absolutely fantastic.'

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda gave birth to a 'healthy' baby girl, Hollie Rose, by emergency caesarean on Monday, but was in a 'critical condition' herself.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Amanda is still extremely woozy - she has been under heavy sedation following Hollie’s birth.

‘She was in intensive care for three days, you definitely cannot bring a newborn into intensive care, so Wednesday night was the first time she could have met Hollie after doctors judged that she was stable.’

The source added: ‘It was a life threatening situation. There was huge loss of blood and Amanda had to have a number of transfusions. She lost several pints of blood.’
