Lana Del Rey has been hailed as the face to watch for 2012, but she's already started experiencing the downside of fame.
RISING STARS 2012
The Video Games singer, who's hotly anticipated debut album, Born To Die, is released at the end of January, has faced a backlash over recent weeks.
First came her widely-panned performance on Saturday Night Live, where some critics slated her talent and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton even tweeted: 'It wasn't just me! Seems like the OVERWHELMING consensus is that @LanaDelRey was horrible on SNL last night.'
At the time, the 25-year-old singer explained her shaky performance on having other things on her mind. She told MTV News: 'If I have other things to think about, or I'm trying to get things done for somebody else, and I'm not in my own way, then... I'm like, "This doesn't really matter"'.
'Sometimes it seems more important to me than other times, I don't know.'
Now the American, who was recently signed by Next Model Management, has been accused of using Botox and for pouting too much in her video for the single Video Games.
She said: 'Had I been aware of what was ahead of me, I'd have tried not to pout so much in the Video Games video. I mean, everyone just wants to talk about my face. And I get very personal messages coming to me, like hate mail, so there is a flipside to the attention my music has been getting.'
It's tough at the top, Lana.
Lana Del Rey will appear alongside The Maccabees at the MTV Brand New For 2012 gig at Koko in Camden tonight.
