Madonna hits the red carpet for W.E. premiere

By Fiona Raisbeck  on Thursday 12 January 2012

Madonna continued with the publicity push for her new directorial film W.E. last night, by hitting the red carpet in a gothic black ensemble for the London premiere.

The superstar singer-turned-film director opted for an unusual look in a classic black floor-length gown by Jean Paul Gaultier, worn underneath a lace cape by Dolce & Gabbana, accessorised with Louis Vuitton heels, red leather driving gloves by Chanel and some twinkling Van Cleef & Arpels jewels.

The Material Girl completed her red carpet look with her blonde hair worn in loose tousled waves, a flick of black eyeliner and a flash of red lipstick.

Madonna was joined on the red carpet by a clutch of cast members from the Wallis Simpson movie, including British actress Andrea Riseborough who wore a burgundy dress with sheer layers by Marios Schwab, and Natalie Dormer who opted for lace little black dress by Dolce & Gabbana and leopard print heels.

Flying the flag for the boys was James D’Arcy, who plays King Edward VIII in the film, and Richard Coyle, who both looked dashing in their grey suits.

Earlier on in the day, Madonna attended a photocall for the picture at London Studios wearing a figure-hugging navy blue and black dress and another pair of Chanel driving gloves.

What’s more, to coincide with the day’s press events Madonna took to her Facebook page to announce the name of her new album, as M.D.N.A. She said that her eagerly-anticipated 12th studio record is expected to be released in early March and will feature her forthcoming single, Gimme All Your Luvin – a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.
