Kardashians slam sweatshop claims
By Eleanor Young on Thursday 22 December 2011
Yesterday, a US human rights group caused uproar, after claiming the Kardasian sisters' clothing range is being produced under 'inhumane' conditions in a sweatshop in China.
But today a spokesman for the family has slammed the allegations, claiming they are simply 'not true'.

On hearing the shocking reports published by US site Radar - some of which claimed workers were paid as little as $1 an hour to make clothes and shoes for the Kardashian collection - the family revealed they were taking the allegations 'very seriously'.
'This is the first we are hearing about it and take it very seriously as we would never condone this,' a rep said in a statement. 'We are presently investigating the situation.'
And just hours later the scandal reached new heights, when an American congressman waded into the row, saying the family 'don't give a damn about the American people.'
‘By going to China in order to make a $65million profit instead of a $10million profit you are effectively thumbing your nose at the American people,' he said, adding the sweatshops sub-standard conditions were 'very sad'.
Last night a spokesman for the family was able to brush aside the allegations, revealing after an investigation that 'the story is not true.'
Phew.
