George Michael forced to postpone tour due to pneumonia

By Jenna Gregory  on Thursday 24 November 2011

Singer George Michael has been hospitalised and forced to cancel a string of European concert dates after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

The 48-year-old singer was taken to hospital in Vienna, Austria, and diagnosed with the respiratory condition, after he had to pull out of performing in the city on Monday.

His gig promoter, Manfred Leodolter, told Austrian reporters, 'George Michael is still in Vienna. Doctors have warned him for the moment against flying and he is getting rest in Vienna.'

As a result of continuing medical treatment, his scheduled concerts in Strasbourg, France, tonight and concerts in Cardiff at the weekend have all been postponed.

According to The Sun, the former Wham star had been struggling with a chest infection for weeks, and cancelled one of his three sell-out gigs last month at London's Royal Albert Hall due to illness.

Last month the Faith singer was also taken to hospital after falling ill on his worldwide Symphonica orchestral tour, after reports said that he was suffering from a viral infection and had a high temperature.

The singer's tour sees him performing songs over his 30-year career with a 41-piece orchestra and in front of a giant red LED wall.

Let's just hope he can return to the stage soon.
