‘Delighted’ actor Hugh Grant has become a first-time father at the age of 51, a rep for British star has confirmed.

It’s thought the About A Boy star, welcomed a baby girl in to the world in September after a 'fleeting affair,' but reps have so far kept the identity of the newborn’s mother under wraps.

‘I can confirm that Hugh Grant is the delighted father of a baby girl,’ a spokesman for the star said in a statement yesterday.

‘He and the mother had a fleeting affair and, while this was not planned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive.

‘He and the mother have discussed everything and are on very friendly terms.’

And friends say the actor is ‘absolutely thrilled’.

‘He is beaming about his daughter,' one insider told American magazine US Weekly. 'He is not with the mum anymore but he's absolutely thrilled,’

While the mother of the child has yet to be confirmed, it is believed to be 32-year-old Chinese actress Tinglan Hong.

It’s thought Hong - who dated the Love Actually briefly earlier this year - checked into London’s exclusive Portland hospital on September 26th, but used a different name during her stay.
