Emotional musician Mark Ronson paid tribute to Amy Winehouse at a London gig last night, speaking briefly of the ‘genius’ star.

Mark’s tribute to his close pal came as he took to the stage at Greenwich Summer Sessions yesterday, one day after attending Amy’s funeral.

Opening his set with hit song Valerie – which was sung by Zutons front man Dave McCabe, who originally wrote the song, he said: 'It’s been a s*** week and it’s great coming out to play to you guys, that’s the great thing about music.'

‘If you love Amy and her music make sure you clap your hands right now.

‘I went to her service yesterday and a rabbi said "A person's life is measured in deeds, not years", hers was pretty f***ing special.

'I’m not getting emotional or morbid but it’s nice to share this moment with people who appreciate good music.'

He added: 'Amy Winehouse was a genius and has made more brilliant music than I’ll ever make.'

The musician played several more of Amy’s his during his gig, including a stripped down version of song Rehab, and track Back to Black.

He ended the session by playing song Valerie once again, this time inviting Amy’s famous backing band to join him on stage.

On Sunday Ronson cancelled a gig at the Cartier International Polo event in Windsor, later saying of his friend: 'She was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life.'
