Ever since David and Victoria Beckham announced the name of their brand new baby girl – little Harper Seven – we’ve been dying to know the explanation behind her unusual name.
Last week it was rumoured the tiny tot was named after a character in the Beckham boys’ favourite Disney show, with some suggesting Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruise were behind the choice.
But now David has taken to Facebook to explain the novel name, revealing the ‘old English’ moniker is reference to the author of Victoria’s favourite book – Harper Lee.
In a video message, posted to his Facebook account, David explained of the name: ‘Victoria's favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird, it's a very strong, passionate book and the author was Harper Lee, and that is where Harper came from.’
Mr B also revealed the reasoning behind their choice of middle name – Seven.
‘The main reason behind Seven was it symbolises spiritual perfection – the seven wonders of the world, the seven colours of the rainbow – and in many cultures it is a lucky number,’ the smiling footballer gushed.
‘We love the name and we love Harper Seven. We are very happy to have her in our lives and in our family, and it is an amazing time for our family right now.’
