Russell Crowe to play Superman's dad in Hollywood remake
By Eleanor Young on Thursday 16 June 2011
New-Zealand-born actor Russell Crowe has landed a coveted role in Hollywood superhero remake, Superman, Man of Steel.
The brooding, Oscar-winning Gladiator star will play Clark Kent’s biological dad, Jor-El, in the new movie, according to film website Variety.
But studio spokesman have yet to confirm Russ has agreed to step into Marlon Brando’s shoes in the hotly tipped remake.
Earlier this year, Brit boy Henry Cavill was unveiled as the brand new Man of Steel, with film bosses revealing he’ll take over from Brandon Routh as Clark Kent in the next instalment of the movie.
And lucky Amy Adams landed one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood history – the part as Louis Lane.
‘There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role,’ Snyder said of the casting.
‘We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.'
Is Russ a good choice for his new Man of Steel role? Let us know what you think in the comments box below.
