Brad Pitt reveals 'chaos' of having a large family

He is famous for his six-child brood with sizzling starlet Angelina Jolie, and now Brad Pitt has opened up on his 'extreme' Hollywood family, revealing he loves the ‘chaos’ of having lots of children.

In a rare interview, the usually private heartthrob - currently in Cannes promoting new flick The Tree of Life - was happy to open up on his home life and reasons for wanting children.

'I know it seems extreme from the outside, but I've always kind of operated this way,’ the actor explained in a new interview. ‘When I know, I know, and why mess around?'

Revealing why he wanted quite such a large brood, Brad, who is dad to two-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne, Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, and four-year-old Shiloh - said he was inspired by the ‘chaos’ of a close friend’s family.

'I had a friend who had a big family when I was a kid,’ he said. 'I just loved the chaos around the breakfast table and the fighting and the ribbing, and the mom making pancakes for everyone or the dad making pancakes.

'And I just decided then if I was ever going to do it - this left some indelible mark on me - if I was ever going to do it, that's the way I was going to do it.’

Last year, Brad’s other half famously revealed she didn’t want biological children until she met her handsome beau.

‘I always wanted to adopt, but I never had the desire of experiencing biological motherhood,' Ms Jolie told Australian Marie Claire magazine. ‘When I met him...I didn't want to get pregnant.’
