Princess Beatrice’s hat reaches £20,000 on eBay

She may have attracted a marmite reaction for her ensemble at  Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding, but it seems Princess Beatrice is having the last laugh after all with her eBay antics.

Her Philip Treacy hat, likened to both a pretzel and an octopus, attracted worldwide ridicule on April 29th, even spawning a Facebook group. But now the charitable royal has put it up for auction on eBay in order to aid UNICEF and Children in Crisis charities.

Ending on Sunday, bidding on the auction has now reached a whopping £20,200, with Australian children’s group The Wiggles bidding £17,500 for the wacky headpiece.

'I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It's a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities,' the 22-year-old wrote on her eBay page.

And bids could be set to sky rocket even further after some rather surprising fashionable support.

Victoria Beckham posted a pic of the hat on her Twitter, tweeting: 'Any hat lovers out there???'

With VB behind the outlandish accessory, Princess Bea could be set for one hell of a bidding war!
