Elizabeth Banks welcomes a 'miracle' baby boy

30 Rock star Elizabeth Banks has revealed she and her hubby Max Handleman have welcomed a 'miracle' baby boy, via a surrogate.

The ecstatic starlet announced news of baby Felix Handleman on her blog, in a post titled ‘Introducing Felix’.

Revealing she and Max had deliberately kept news of their exciting new arrival a secret, the actress spoke of the ‘miracle’ birth of the bouncing baby, after trying to conceive naturally for years.

‘I have been very fortunate in life both professionally and personally,’ Elizabeth wrote.

‘The one true hurdle I've faced in life is that I have a broken belly. And after years of trying to get pregnant, exploring the range of fertility treatments, all unsuccessful, our journey led us to gestational surrogacy: we make a "baby cake" and bake it in another woman's "oven".'

'From that came two miracles,' she continued. 'The first was meeting our carrier and her husband who were truly humbling in their decency and generosity.

'And the second miracle was the birth of our baby boy, Felix Handelman.'

Gushing about her new arrival, Elizabeth also explained how the name Felix meant ‘happy’ and ‘lucky’ in Latin, adding: ‘true to his name, Felix is a very happy baby and a blessing on our life.'

The star did not give the age of the tot or reveal when he was born, but did thank friends and fans for their ongoing support.
