Tearful Lily Allen has spoken of her heartbreak for first time since the tragic loss of her baby in December last year.

Lily – who was six months pregnant with boyfriend Sam Cooper’s child – is said to have been rushed to hospital with severe stomach pain.

And although every effort was made to save her unborn baby, it was confirmed ‘with great sadness’ that the couple sadly lost the child'

Now the songstress-turned-designer has spoken of her sadness during the dark time, and how the loss has changed her.

'It was a really long battle,’ she revealed, ‘I think that kind of thing changes a person.'

The actress spoke out during new Channel 4 documentary – Lily Allen: From Riches to Rags – which follows the star and her sister Sarah as they open vintage clothes store, Lucy In Disguise.

During the film, Lily also speaks of her battle with bulimia, and is painfully honest about how she struggled to over come the condition.

'I used to vomit after meals. It's not something I'm proud of,' she admits.

‘But, I tell you what, a lot of people came up to me telling me how great I looked and I'd be on the cover of every magazine.

'I thought I looked good and it was great to be able to try on clothes and feel a million dollars. But I wasn't happy, I really wasn't,’ she adds.

'I would love to be the skinniest minniest person in the world but I can't do that without being unhappy - I like food.'

Lily Allen: From Riches to Rags airs next Tuesday at 10pm.
