Eight weeks after welcoming surprise baby Faith Margaret into the family, new mum Nicole Kidman has spoken out her heartbreaking struggle to conceive, revealing she and husband Keith Urban suffered 'pain and loss' before deciding to enlist the help of a surrogate.
Speaking on Australian talk show 60 Minutes, the Oscar-nominated Rabbit Hole actress explained she was ‘desperate’ for another child, after trying and failing to fall pregnant.
‘Anyone that's been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility,’ Nicole revealed in the interview, broadcast in Australia yesterday night.
‘Fertility is such a big thing, and it's not something I've ever run away from talking about.’
Explaining their decision to use a surrogate, or 'gestational carrier,' Nicole added: ‘We were in a place of desperately wanting another child.’
‘This opportunity arose for us, and I couldn't get pregnant.’

Now the actress – and Marie Claire cover star – is absolutely thrilled with at having new addition to the family, and been spending time with her baby daughter at her Nashville home.
‘Children are children – you'll die for your children,’ she said. ‘And when you feel that as parent – that's the unconditional love.’
Keith and Nicole, both 43, already have a 2-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose, while the actress also has two adopted children, Isabella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise.
