She may have toned down the lyrics of steamy song S&M, but popstrel Rihanna still stole the show at the glittering Brit Awards last night, with a sizzling medley of her latest hits.

Despite being given strict instructions to replace the risqué words in her recent racy track, the Bajan beauty still managed to turn up the heat on the flaming stage.

Rihanna began her red hot performance – of tracks The Only Girl in the World, What’s My Name and S&M - in a flowing red Giles Deacon dress, the stunning starlet ripped it off seconds later, to reveal a barely-there lace Manjit Deu leotard.

And it wasn’t just her performance that got people talking. Rihanna also beat off stiff competition to take home the Best International Female Solo Artist prize, presented by none other than Cheryl Cole (who later admitted a ‘girl crush’ on the star).

‘This is so exciting. This means a lot,’ Rhi gushed as she stepped on stage to accept the gong. ‘It doesn't get much better than the Brits. Wow.’

And Rihanna wasn’t the only star to get people talking. Rapper Plan Bput on a controversial performance, featuring scores of dancers dressed as police, and ending with an officer being set on fire.

Take That were also back to their best – albeit in some rather odd ensembles – collecting the award for Best British Group, and performing single Kidz.

What a load of Nonsense!
Brit Awards?
Twit Awards more like not so much music just a self congratulatory body of "I love me".This mob serves no purpose. If all the energy pumped into this meaningless dross sector were directed into a more caring attitude we would never have the scandalous reports just released of elderly people dying in agony supposedley being looked after.

Bob, are you seriously suggesting that if people didn't make music like this then people would be better looked after? Music like this makes many people very happy, and I can't imagine many people that listen to the likes of Rihanna would condone the recent reports. Let people enjoy their life as they wish
