It’s been quite some time since Lindsay Lohan graced our screens, but it seems the troubled starlet could be set to return, with role in the new Superman films – if reports are to be believed.

Just last month, Brit boy Henry Cavill was unveiled as the brand new Man of Steel, with film bosses revealing he’ll take over from Brandon Routh as Clark Kent in the next instalment of the movie.

Now it’s rumoured Li-Lo could be about to land a role alongside the action hero, in the hotly anticipated flick.

With no word on which character Lindsay might play, insiders say the unlikely star is desperate for a role, and has convinced the studio to set up a meeting.

'Lindsay wants a part in this movie bad,' one source told E! Online.

'Ever since news broke that Henry Cavill was cast, she did everything in her power to track down his number and try and set up a meeting with him and the studio.'

And it seems Lindsay’s convinced a part in the Zack Snyder-directed flick could turn her ailing career around.

'She's serious about making a comeback,' explains the source. 'No booze, no drugs. She wants people to remember why she was famous in the first place, and that's because she's talented.'

Bosses have yet to announce who will play Lois Lane in the new superhero film, but so far, Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart and Jessica Biel have all been linked to the role.
