Brit comedian Ricky Gervais has landed himself in hot water over his performance at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, according to reports, after angering film bosses and celebrities alike with a series of risky gags.

The Office Star was presenting the prestigious show for the second year running, but it seems unlikely he’ll be invited back, after a series of cutting jokes upset some of Hollywood's finest.
Among those in the firing line were Charlie Sheen, the cast of Sex and the City, and Bruce Willis, who he introduced as ‘Ashton Kutcher’s Dad’.
Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp’s flick the Tourist was also the butt of a joke, when cheeky Ricky exclaimed: ‘It was a big year for 3D movies – it seems everything was three dimensional... except for the characters in The Tourist.’
'I feel bad about that joke. I’m jumping on the bandwagon, because I haven’t even seen The Tourist... Who has?’ he added.

Yesterday Philip Berk, chairman of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association blasted the comedian’s gags as 'totally unacceptable.'
'He definitely crossed the line. And some of the things were totally unacceptable,' he told the Hollywood Reprter. 'But that's Ricky. Any of the references to individuals is certainly not something the Hollywood Foreign Press condones.'
But the exec denied Ricky was pulled off stage for a telling-off half way though the show, after his sudden disappearance sparked rumours bosses had pulled the plug.
‘He was never called on the carpet, or given a warning or anything else,’ Berk said, dismissing the talk as ‘ridiculous’.

Ricky remained upbeat after the show, joking: ‘For three hours every year, Hollywood is scared to death of me. It’s great,’ and yesterday confirmed his hour-long break from stage was always planned.
‘I did every single introduction I was meant to. There just happened to be a long gap,' he told the New York Daily News in an email.
'This is because I was allowed to choose who I would introduce in advance. I obviously chose presenters who I had the best jokes for. (And who I knew had a good sense of humour).
'Everyone took it well and the atmosphere backstage and at the after show was great.'

a classic from Ricky, I think some of these stars need to get a sense of humour, if they don't want to have the micky taken out of them they shouldn't get up to things that they arn't supposed too or even be in that industry to start off with.

From what I've seen of the awards Ricky was amazing. Hollywood is so far up it's own bum it can see day light. What I find offensive is when Hollywood rewrites history.
If Ricky's not hosting it next year please let Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle.

Ricky Gervais should never have been asked to host anything - he's not funny and he's unbearable to watch. Let's hope they choose someone else in future.

It's a shame that Ricky won't be back next year. He was funny and didn't tell the public anything they didn't already know. These are public figures with public lives. Lighten up Hollywood! This is much ado about nothing.

Bob Hope used to tell cruel jokes...years ago. I remember him saying at one award ceremony" that the best acting was always done by the losers"{oh you deserved more than me darling}
